Renata Parisi R. Pellicer

In 2018, after moving to London, I discovered Proprioceptive Writing in a casual conversation during a doctor’s appointment.

The name sparked my curiosity and all it took was an internet search for me to realize a strong synergy between this method and my areas of interest and work: psychoanalysis, creative processes and writing.

Few days later, the book written by the founders of the method arrived at my home and after 2 months, I embarked on a 7-day immersion in a place called Anan Cara in Ireland.

It was there, undoubtly impacted by the effect of Proprioceptive Writing on me and the participants of the immersion, that I dared to dream of the possibility of working with this method in the Portuguese, expanding access to this powerful tool that was definitively entering my life.

Since then, I have participated in numerous and ongoing Proprioceptive Writing groups in Europe and the United States, as well as immersions with the founder of the method, Linda T. Metcalf, I have concluding my training as a certified Proprioceptive Writing Instructor.

It is with the authorization and trust of the Proprioceptive Writing Center® that I am fulfilling my dream of officially and for the first time bringing Proprioceptive Writing to Brazil through SOPRO.

But what is Proprioceptive Writing?

PW is a powerful and yet delicate method of exploring the mind that uses writing as a tool to slow down our thoughts and, thus, facilitate attentive and reflective contact with this continuous flow of information about ourselves.

The method was developed by Linda Trichter Metcalf, PH.D and Tobin Simon PH.D. also founders of the Proprioceptive Writing Center (CA-USA)and authors of the book Writing the Mind Alive – The Proprioceptive Method for Finding your Authentic VoiceLinda T Metcalf PH.D. and Tobin Simon PH.D (Ballantine Books, 2002).
By practicing PW, you learn to create a welcoming and introspective environment, proper to receive your thoughts with safety and empathy and reflecting on them.
Getting in intimate contact with your world of sensations, memories, beliefs, emotions, anxieties, intuitions can be transformative and powering, and it is this movement that we seek at Sopro through the practice of Proprioceptive Writing.
Listen to yourself, create movements with Sopro!
